Sooma tDCS™
One tDCS system for clinic and home. Full clinician control.
Sooma tDCS™ is the first EU MDR-certified tDCS system — a complete, non-invasive treatment for major depressive disorder and chronic pain that works the way your service does. Use it as a stand-alone device in the clinic, or send it home with your patient under full remote monitoring and clinician control.
What makes Sooma tDCS™ different is the way it includes all the flexibility a professional tDCS treatment delivery may require in a package that remains easy to use for a clinician and the patient.
Designed for confident, consistent treatment
A few fundamentals make every Sooma tDCS session safe and repeatable, whether it’s run by a clinician or a patient at home.
Accurate stimulation target. Sooma head caps have pre-configured electrode positions, so the dose is always delivered to the intended target area (e.g., the DLPFC, at F3/F4) for the best therapeutic effect.
Controlled stimulation dose. Continuous resistance monitoring keeps current delivery constant and within the prescribed parameters — and confirms the electrodes are delivering the intended current through resistance-generating layers such as hair.
Plug-and-play simplicity. Automated safeguards enforce correct use in line with the prescribed protocol. Protocols are selected from ready-made templates and adjusted to the patient as needed.
Key benefits
Faster improvement of symptoms
Decreased symptoms for most depression patients in just three weeks
More patients treated
Remote treatments and tracking allow treating more patients with fewer in-clinic appointments
Safe, effective, and scalable
Access to safe, high-quality, and noninvasive care through cost-effective treatment solution
Easy adoption and onboarding
Simple treatment protocols with easily absorbed user materials and training
One system, two ways to treat
Every clinic works differently, and treatment needs change over a patient’s journey. Sooma tDCS is built to flex between settings without changing the device, the protocol, or the patient experience.
In the clinic — as a stand-alone device
The Sooma DUO stimulator can be operated entirely in the clinic, with or without a smartphone. Set a treatment protocol once and the device delivers each session on its own — clinician-supervised, no app required during treatment. A single device can serve many patients: each patient’s own protocol is loaded when they begin, and the device is ready for the next patient once returned. Ideal for outpatient clinics, day units, and shared-device programmes.
At home — with remote monitoring and full clinician control
When a patient is ready for at-home care, nothing about the clinical oversight changes. The clinician sets and adjusts the treatment protocol in the Sooma Clinician Portal; the patient is guided through each session by the Sooma App; and every session’s dose, adherence, and patient-reported outcomes flow back to the Portal. Controlled protocols ensure each session can only be taken on its assigned day, so treatment stays fully governed by the prescribing clinician — at a distance.
How the system fits together
Sooma tDCS is three connected parts working as one:
Sooma DUO stimulator — delivers the stimulation precisely to the prescribed protocol, in the clinic or at home.
Sooma Clinician Portal — where clinicians create and adjust treatment protocols, review dose and adherence, and track patient-reported outcomes over time.
Sooma App — guides the patient through each session step by step, collects outcome questionnaires, and syncs data back to the Portal.
Importantly, the Sooma DUO stimulator can be used stand-alone, without a smartphone, ensuring access to treatment for all.
